Job opening

R&D Lab Engineer

Do you want to work with the latest technology and new innovations? Now you have the opportunity to become part of a small but rapidly growing company where your contribution in the role of R&D Lab Engineer will be an important part of the continued growth journey.

About ArgusEye

ArgusEye is a Swedish company developing and providing innovative sensor systems for biopharma. Their vision is to reshape the development and production of biological medicines through integrated sensor systems that, through real-time data, improve efficiency. Today, the manufacture of several of our most important medicines depends on time-consuming off-line tests that make manufacturing more difficult and expensive, which also makes these medicines inaccessible to a large part of the population. With the help of ArguEye’s technology, this problem can be circumvented and manufacturing can be made more efficient, which increases availability for those who need the medicines. By working as an R&D Lab Engineer at ArgusEye, you will have an important part in this work and contribute to a better future.

The company was founded in 2017 and is currently in a scale-up phase, going from start-up to an established company. The patented technology is the result of extensive academic research at Linköping University and is based on nanoplasmonics combined with fiber optics.

What will you be working with?

As an R&D Lab Engineer at ArgusEye, you get the opportunity to be part of a small but growing team of three people who work with the company’s sensor development. Your primary role will involve working with the development of new sensor chips. This includes design, manufacture, evaluation and improvement of existing solutions. In your work, you will use various characterization and manufacturing techniques such as HPLC. Additionally, you will be expected to collaborate effectively with other team members at ArgusEye to ensure a successful integration of the sensor chips into the overall system. Being part of a smaller company also means that you get the opportunity to be involved and influence the company’s development and growth, including the establishment of new work routines, collaborations, and other interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and execute experiments related to the development and characterization of new sensor chips as well as to produce data that can contribute to better data models.

  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and concepts for sensor chip design and fabrication.

  • Develop and validate new product prototypes for various applications.

  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and electronic records following standards of data quality and integrity.

  • Prepare scientific/technical reports, summaries, protocols, etc, and present them to internal and external
    stakeholders.
  • Perform regular lab maintenance to ensure a clean and safe work environment.

Who are we looking for?

For this role, we are looking for a motivated and driven person who wants to be an active part of ArgusEye’s continued growth journey. We believe that you, the applicant, have a passion for research and enjoy spending time in the lab with practical experiments and understand the importance of a systematic way of working and documentation for a successful product development process. You have documented experience in lab work, via education or work, and a deep understanding of general chemical and biological principles.

To succeed in the role, you need to be comfortable working with multiple tasks in a flexible environment where projects and priorities can change quickly, which is part of the charm of working in a scaleup company. You have the ability to work independently but also thrive in environments where close collaboration with the team is required. Furthermore, you have a good ability to see what needs to be done and are not afraid to take your own initiative.

You enjoy independently planning and carrying out experiments and like to learn new things.

You qualifications

  • MSc or PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or another related field.
  • Experience working with a range of tools and equipment in a laboratory setting. Experience in SPR or other protein-protein interaction technologies are meriting.
  • Ability to perform laboratory procedures accurately and reproducibly.
  • Capable to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage several projects in parallel, paying careful attention to details.
  • Good data analysis skills. Experience with exploring, modelling, and visualizing data using MATLAB or other programming tools are merits, as well as knowledge and practical experience in biopharmaceutical production.
  • Strong understanding of general chemical principles and biomolecular interactions.
  • Proficient in standard Office programs like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

We also attach great importance to personal suitability.
